Which are the goals of
ImpactAVillage?
ImpactAVillage funds projects that improve education and healthcare in communities around the world. Board Members of ImpactAVillage search the world for communities in need of a hand with projects that improve healthcare, well-being and education, and empower people to work together for the betterment of themselves and their community. ImpactAVillage looks for small, easily managed projects that can be completed in less than a year. Projects are selected based on the willingness of the community to support and take ownership of the project. In addition, an educated advocate from the community is appointed to work with the community and manage the project to completion under the guidance of ImpactAVillage.
How did you decide to write A story of hope?
After hearing Deng's incredible story many times while speaking at schools together, I decided his story needed to be captured in a book format. Deng has a special gift of speaking to young children, so I wrote the book to appeal to young readers ages 3rd grade and above. Children and adults alike enjoy reading the illustrated book, and Deng signs his book when he speaks at schools. The book is also available on Amazon in print and e-version formats.
What is your biggest inspiration in life?
I love connecting with people, and my biggest inspiration is to be in service to others through my enthusiasm for building awareness and my desire to make a positive difference in the world.

A STORY OF HOPE - THE JOURNEY OF A LOST BOY OF SUDAN
(by Deng Ajak Jongkuch and Lisa Frankel Wade)
A Story of Hope is a beautifully illustrated, poignant story about Deng Jongkuch on his harrowing journey as one of the Lost Boys of Sudan. This historical, non-fiction book follows Deng from the age of five as a boy living in a rural village in Southern Sudan through his early 20s when he was a resident in the U.S. With hope and courage, Deng survived many hardships such as walking over 1 year in the desert and nearly 14 years in refugee camps when he was displaced from his family and village during the Sudan Civil war. Proceeds from the sale of this book go to ImpactAVillage, Inc., a non-profit whose mission is to improve education and healthcare in communities around the world.
