Thanks to UN PONTE per ANNE FRANK, to my desire to talk about Anne Frank, her family and the Holocaust, and due to my need to encourage everyone to fight for a better world and for peace, and to cancel all forms of discrimination, I had the opportunity to know amazing people.
One of those is Cara Wilson-Granat, a wonderful woman that inspired me from the beginning of our communication. Her words, the messages she wants to share and her hope for the future are admirable. She is like a light in the dark.
Cara and I regularly write to each other, and now she has become a dear friend of mine, we support each other and she has been very close to me during the creation of this website.
For more than two decades Cara has corresponded with Otto Frank, Anne's father, and thanks to their correspondence, then transformed into a friendship without end, Cara has learned to see the world through different eyes. With the eyes of hope.
Her feelings and her correspondence with Otto Frank are documented in one of her books: "Dear Cara: Letters From Otto Frank".
Here you can find more information about Cara's books, but not only.
Because Cara Wilson-Granat is much, much more.

#1 "Dear Cara: Letters From Otto Frank"
Cara
Wilson-Granat (Cara Weiss at that time) began writing to the father of Anne
Frank when
she was 12 years old in the San Fernando Valley, California after she had been chosen
by a talent scout to audition for the movie, The Diary of Anne Frank.
Her correspondence and profound friendship extended well over 18 years when she and Otto Frank finally met in person in Basel, Switzerland where he lived.
Her unique relationship became the foundation for much of the perspective Cara has to this day and is documented in her book Dear Cara: Letters From Otto Frank.
Each of Cara’s books and talks carry a theme of the gifts that this extraordinary Holocaust survivor gave her and others worldwide: tenacity and hope in the face of life’s unending challenges. No matter what, we must never give up.

Description:
A long time friend of Otto Frank, the father of Anne Frank, Cara shares the
wisdom and insights of his experiences through this memorable book, Dear
Cara: Letters from Otto Frank.
A Jewish teenager from the San Fernando Valley, California, Cara first began writing to Otto Frank after being greatly moved by his daughter’s The Diary of Anne Frank in the late 1950s. The correspondence continued over two decades through Cara’s collection of touching notes between both Otto and herself. Dear Cara chronicles their relationship evolving from a mentorship to a connection between kindred spirits empathetically in search of human understanding. The book has become the personalized legacy of Otto Frank, who requested Cara and his international adopted “family” of supporters continue spreading his message around the world. To fulfill that wish, Cara presents his inspirational words through the book which is designed to bring hope to a new generation through a unique historical perspective. Applicable to all ages, races, cultures, and religions, the lessons in tolerance, positive choices, validation, and acceptance are timely and relevant to all walks of life. Readers form their own intimate connection to the Holocaust as Cara brings history alive for them, ensuring the Frank family’s tragedy is not forgotten but inspires intercultural healing, learning and compassion to preserve the legacy of Otto Frank for generations to come. A message from Cara...
“When I was at a very low point in my life and it looked like all hope
was lost to the world with the assassinations of President Kennedy, his
brother
Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, I wrote to my dearest mentor and told him I would never bring a child into a world this cruel. It was then
that
Otto wrote me the words that uplift me even to this day. Every day. He
said,‘Even if the end of the world
would be imminent I must still plant a tree
today.’
Otto encouraged me to never give up hope. And to punctuate his poignant message to me he had two trees planted in Israel in my name. A few years later I did birth and raise two beautiful sons—my trees of hope. How could I give up believing in tomorrow with the promise of such beautiful new lives as my Ethan and Jesse? Otto’s gift to me is one that never ends. I am continually meeting new people and being inspired by other’s indomitable spirits of survival—and this is what gives me hope as well. Otto’s legacy, carrying the torch for his brilliant daughters, Anne and Margot, translates into spirited talks and efforts about peace in the world, unity, the ending of bigotry, racism, revenge, anti-Semitism, bullying, cruelty of all kinds. This was the focus upon which Otto Frank dedicated his remaining years. My talks about Otto have expanded to include the Power of Choice of Love over Fear and the astounding gifts of Validation and making Positive Decisions —what, indeed, really does matter the most in our lives? In time I will publish a new edition of my book complete with photographs and more. That’s in the near future. It’s a joy reaching out to the world as the result of a long-ago correspondence that began with a teenager’s dream and wish, “I wonder if Otto Frank will actually write back to me…?” How grateful I am that he, indeed, responded and changed my life.” Cara Wilson-Granat |
